Leading a Teen Girl Bible Study

Tips for Leading a Bible Study with Teen Girls

What a fun gift to open and study God’s Word with teenage girls, so how can we do this well?

Choose wisely. What do your girls need right now? What are they asking to talk about? Also, keep in mind that people are in and out with sports and homework throughout the fall and likely few of your members will miss each week. Choose a study where they can feel involved and contribute, even if they can only attend a few weeks.

Encourage personal study. As you think about what to study, you may consider a study with a little less “homework” considering they have an actual school load of homework. However, still encourage them to study during the week and come prepared with questions and observations to create the habit of studying God’s Word on their own.

Mix it up. Create opportunities for girls who are not always in the same small groups to interact. Maybe middle and high school can both attend or girls from various schools, areas, etc. Encourage them to invite a neighbor, friend, teammate, and think outside of who is normally in their small group.

Keep it fun. Summer may be over, but we should still allow our girls to be kids! Encourage time to play and be silly together and maybe provide treats to keep things fun! Attention spans can also be a little shorter after a day at school, so change your teaching method often. I like to sometimes have girls retell the Bible passage we just read in their own words or physically walk through the space we are in to set the scene for the story we are studying.

I pray you and your girls have an incredibly rich fall as you dive into God’s Word together and take advantage of their free time during the summer to deepen relationships with one another and with God!
